Mimecast named Security Vendor of the Year at 2011 CRN Channel Awards
Cloud-based email management provider scoops prestigious UK award in recognition of its channel programme and security products
London, UK: Mimecast®, the leading supplier of cloud-based email archiving, continuity and security for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, has been named 2011 Security Vendor of the Year at the prestigious CRN Channel Awards.
The CRN Security Vendor of the Year award recognises the overall contribution that Mimecast is making to business development in the channel, in terms of its security product range and development, channel and marketing programmes, and service and support.
Nessa Lynchehaun, UK Channel Director at Mimecast, said: “To be named Security Vendor of the Year is a fantastic achievement for the whole Mimecast team and great recognition of the progress we have made in the past 12-18 months. At Mimecast we have never shied away from taking on the big players. We have always known that our technology is good enough to compete with anyone, but our image as the ‘new kid on the block’ has taken a little while to shift.
“That is no longer the case. Mimecast’s channel community has evolved significantly in recent years and I think it is fair to say that we are no longer seen just as the plucky underdog, but as a UK vendor that is really one to watch. We are delighted to win this award and are looking forward to what promises to be a very exciting 2012 for Mimecast and our partners.”
A number of Mimecast partners also took home an award on what was a great night for the Mimecast channel. Bytes was named Enterprise Reseller of the Year, Trustmarque won Services Provider of the Year, Microsoft was named Software Vendor of the Year and Softcat took home both the Channel Personality of the Year and Reseller of the Year awards.
Martyn Croft, Chief Information Officer, The Salvation Army UK, commented: “I like the idea of security-as-a-service and allowing somebody else to deal with the problem rather than wasting our time doing it ourselves. Selecting Mimecast means our email is in the hands of experts, and is managed more effectively than dealing with email filtering in-house."
Dave Simpson, Commercial Director, Softcat, said: “Security concerns are often cited as the biggest barrier to adoption of the cloud. That’s why we were thrilled to see Mimecast recognised as a leading security vendor as they consistently address these concerns with their email management service. Given how mission critical email is to businesses, this is actually a strong endorsement of the cloud model. We are very selective about our choice of products, but Softcat’s well-established data security practice gives our partnership with Mimecast a particular synergy.”
Mimecast’s win continues a successful 2011 for the cloud vendor with the company ranked 16th in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100, seventh in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, shortlisted for three KnowList Awards (Service Excellence, Account Manager of the Year, and Microsoft-based Solution of the Year), nominated in the Digital Innovator category at the Growing Business Award and for Supplier of the Year at the British Legal Awards as well as being given an MSExchange Gold Award for Unified Email Management.
